An invention patent is valid for 20 years from the filing date and the renewal fee shall be paid each year after the third year from the date of filing.
 
A utility model patent is valid for 10 years from the filing date and the renewal fee shall be paid each year after the second year from the date of filing.
 
A design patent is valid for 5 years from the filing date, but can renew every five year and have almost 25 years protection period from the filing date. The renewal fee shall be paid each year after the fifth year from the date of filing.
