Lenovo Group and Finland's Nokia said the two companies have reached a settlement in their years-old patent dispute, resolving all pending legal cases, according to a report by Hong Kong Economic Times on April 7, 2021.

Lenovo will pay Nokia the net difference, Nokia said, although the license swap agreement remains confidential. Nokia declined to disclose financial details.

In July 2020, Nokia filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging patent infringement by Lenovo and sought a limited exclusion order and injunction to prevent Lenovo laptops, tablets and desktop computers from entering the US market. In September 2019, Nokia filed a lawsuit in the Eastern District of North Carolina.

In October 2020, Nokia also announced that it was seeking to enforce an injunction previously issued by a court in Munich, Germany, banning Lenovo from selling some computers, tablets and other products in Germany. But then a German appeals court ordered a stay of the injunction Nokia had won in its patent dispute with Lenovo.
