China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) recently issued announcement on revision of patent certificates. For patents with announcement dates of granting on or after June 1st, 2024, the CNIPA will issue new versions of patent certificates. The new versions of the patent certificate adopt an A4 format with vertical layout, optimizing and adjusting the layout of bibliographic data.

Differences between the new and old versions:

1. The original two pages have been merged into one page;

2. The original applicant and inventor information as filed on the filing date from the original second page has been integrated into the first page, with modification of the layout and sequence of the bibliographic data;

3. The two paragraphs below the bibliographic data have been condensed and merged;

4. The text "Patent Announcement Information" has been added below the QR code, allowing direct access to the patent information announcement of the CNIPA to view the latest relevant data of the patent.

Lastly, a note: As of February 7, 2023 (inclusive), the CNIPA has fully implemented the electronicization of patent certificates and no longer issue paper patent certificates.
